It's an ELCA Lutheran church, built during the early 1960s. We have a few pretty modern churches here in town, although none quite measure up to the uniqueness of this structure. We just recently wrapped up a whole process of a small expansio with an office wing and remodeling/repurposing of certain spaces, and it actually in most regards looks better than ever before. I see a lot of church additions where they just tack on boxes to the sides that look completely out of place. We didn't do that, we sacrificed having a little additional space to put the money toward making it look like it was supposed to be there and always had been there. Went way off topic there, but I was putting that out there because I have some pics of the major part of the remodel if you're interested in seeing more of the building.

I go to an AG church, but I think we have one or two Lutheran churches around here. I don't hear about them too often, the churches (and people) around here are predominantly Catholic.
Since it does seem like a pretty cool building, I'd be interested in seeing more pictures of it.

I'll put some up here as soon as I have access again. I'm currently in the process of switching my photo and video files from my external drive to my new cloud drive so I can't get into them at the moment.

I'm currently in the process of switching my photo and video files from my external drive to my new cloud drive so I can't get into them at the moment. Okay, no rush! What cloud service are you using? I still have all my stuff on hard drives, and probably always will, but I wouldn't mind backing up images of those drives to a cloud...

Not a cloud service, but one of the cloud hard drives so that I can access wirelessly. I've had the basic drive that you have to plug in since my computer filled up, but given that I use it basically for just my pictures and basically all the time it's not convenient at all. So I'm trying to dump them to a WD My Cloud.

The photos finally dumped successfully. Took three days and multiple tries, I don't think our WiFi is really good enough to actually handle a device like this, but it seems to be working okay. Anywho, the church pictures. Mind you, this was before everything was completely done so there's obviously some missing finishes. Sorry for any blurriness, again, just phone pics and what I could grab without being in the way. This is essentially the new main entry. We never really had a good main entry, so it was kind of like all doors open all the time, so this new setup will be far better for security concerns as we can keep more doors secure. Off to the left background is a section of the original building. This is the outside of the new office wing. You can see it looks very similar to the original structure in the background of the previous picture. Here is the new entry from inside looking out. Here's the welcome/information desk, office spaces behind. New office workroom. New conference room. There's quite a story about how we got that table for free. This is turned exactly the opposite direction from the new entryway. Previously between the brick walls on the left and right, this area was only one story. Where the ceiling dips down on the far back end is where the old gathering area/narthex outside the sanctuary ended, it was way too small for the size of the congregation. Under part of where the high ceiling is there used to be a one story lounge/small library which have both been relocated to dedicated spaces. My dad made those four crosses hanging above the banners on the pillars. Another shot of the same area, you can see part of the old narthex underneath where it dips down. Ceiling detail. This is basically turned around the opposite direction of the previous picture, above the new entry. It's the new lounge/meeting room/whatever, really a cool room. Here's a shot of the bell tower through the windows above the old narthex, this is also something really cool because you couldn't previously see the bell tower from really anywhere inside. Here's just some general pics of the new staircase and landings, and the new connecting "bridge" that ties the existing second floor into the new space. Lounge is on the left of the bridge. Here's just a look at a new connection on the first floor from the new space to an existing main hallway which used to just be solid walls with rooms between, and then a look at said existing main hallway. And then just a shot of the kitchen. This was done awhile before the rest, but I took a pic because it's a pretty impressive kitchen. My brown Leslie Locke used to hang in here.

Wow, that is a huge church! Very neat building, has lots of cool ceilings [potential for some great installs?]. Looks like a nice table to get for free too Not a cloud service, but one of the cloud hard drives so that I can access wirelessly. So I'm trying to dump them to a WD My Cloud. Oh! I see. I actually have a similar setup. I have a few hard drives attached to my wireless router, and with some computer magic I can access it from all my computers. I too had the few hard drives that plugged in, but it became annoying since I have so many different computers there was too much plugging and unplugging lol. Now especially with YouTube it became quite a pain because if I was uploading a video I needed the drive plugged into the desktop computer and couldn't access it on any of the other machines for long period of time. A better setup is in order some time this summer because its too slow the way it is now.

After much frustration the My Cloud went back to the store and I'm gonna start over. It seemed like it was gonna be a nice setup but it just ended up as a major frustration. It worked fine for like a couple hours once I finally got things to transfer, until everything locked up and then it totally messed up the copy of my iPhoto library I'd transferred. Being that they were on sale I thought what the heck, worth a try, but I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience. A better WiFi network would probably prove to be beneficial, but I never know how things'll work here until I try them.

I have a relatively new router, and even through the Ethernet its still slow...the problem in my case is resting in the hard drive itself. I have both Mac and Windows computers, going all the way back to OS 9 and Windows 2000 to current, so I need to have it compatible across all platforms. Because of this, I'll probably never be able to use a manufactured drive for that purpose such as the My Cloud that you had. I'm going to try upgrading to a hard drive with a USB 3 interface in the near future and see if that helps with the speed at all.
