For the 4th of July weekend, I ended up at the shore in Wildwood, NJ. The boardwalk is around 2 1/2 miles long and has many shops and such along it. I didn't get as many pictures as I had originally intended to, but whatever. First, we start off with the largest casino arcade along the boardwalk.. Gateway 26. This place has 1984-85 reversair originals hanging from cables run horizontally across the gaming floor. there are also a few other originals in other parts of the arcade. Along with the originals are a dozen white casablanca delta IIs. The fans are under warranty, meaning they end up replacing parts every so often. In this case, the original reversair brackets and blades were replaced with new ones which don't quite fit the isolation ring. They also ended up replacing five originals with new ones Next we see a few of the SMC hampton bay industrials. When Home Depot was selling these, they began to spring up like weeds (in a similar fashion as the gossimer industrials and the quick-connects). I think this one could qualify as a unique scenario Here are the rest.. Blender Current style 60" dayton/marley industrial, it replaced an older 60" dayton "plain" industrial. I really think the gossimer industrials look better with bell canopies. Canarm Bent up dayton/marley 40" Dayton/laskos And once I thought I had seen it all, I run across a closed antique shop with three 1960s R&M originals. Note the rounded switch housing and skinny pot metal bell canopy. These are the cleanest examples I've seen so far.. I want one of these VERY BADLY. Finally, the main reason I came to Wildwood.. A seafood restaurant recently replaced an old Hunter R-52 original with a hunter mariner. This is the R-52 that originally hung here.. and the one that is now in my possession. I got it for the best price of all.. $0. ..and yes, it worked

How many Originals hang from cables? Any pictures of the setup?
My favorites are the blenderfan and the 1960s Originals.
Jeremy that's not rope it's metal cable, like power lines.

How many Originals hang from cables? Any pictures of the setup? There were around a dozen cables running over the gaming floor. There were between one and four fans on a cable. The fans were not in any particular pattern either. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of the complete setup.

Very interesting ceiling fans installations and setup! Sky blue Originals are nostalgic to me because it reminds me when I went to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney Orlando back in November 2000. They had a bunch of 1960-1970 Originals with bell canopy and rounded switch housings painted in that color. That particular color looks awesome on Originals. It makes them looks even more retro. Even if they are hanged on metal cables I think its still dangerous to have them hang that way. Like Jeremy said, Originals are HEAVY. What happened to the blades of the SMC Hampton Bay Industrial on the 7th pic??? But I think its looks awesome to have them over curved. A few Marellis have extreme curved blades like that too. Do you think it will affect the operation of the fan? The white Industrials on the 12th pic is not a Canarm. It have to be more something like a TAT or an Evergo. I like those. I don't like the Hunters Mariners as an Hunter Outdoor fan. I prefer the Sea Air or the Outdoor Original. Its stupid that they painted the blades of the gray Original in brown. They already have wood blades. Go figures.

Even if they are hanged on metal cables I think its still dangerous to have them hang that way. Like Jeremy said, Originals are HEAVY. The breaking strength of the cables the originals were hanging from is several tons, meaning a few 40 lb. originals aren't going to break it. What happened to the blades of the SMC Hampton Bay Industrial on the 7th pic??? But I think its looks awesome to have them over curved. A few Marellis have extreme curved blades like that too. Do you think it will affect the operation of the fan? Someone purposely curved the blades upward so the fan could still be used, yet in a way that it wouldn't make contact with the surrounding crap (typical beach murchandise) hanging from the ceiling. The white Industrials on the 12th pic is not a Canarm. It have to be more something like a TAT or an Evergo. I like those. Canarm and TAT are connected. I believe this fan is a canarm because of the regular bell canopy. If it were a TAT, it would have their classic, boxy, large, cup-shaped (for lack of a better word) canopy. I don't like the Hunters Mariners as an Hunter Outdoor fan. I prefer the Sea Air or the Outdoor Original. The mariner has been around since around 1998, so it's nothing new. They're also half-decent fans, which is why I actually sort of like them. I mean, it's better they replace a fan with a mariner rather than a hampton bay or harbor breeze. Its stupid that they painted the blades of the gray Original in brown. They already have wood blades. Go figures. The blades aren't painted.

Canarm and TAT are connected. How do you know? You may be right. Here's the Canarm I saw in Wildwood Here's a typical Canarm without the indented sideband Here's the same fan as above, only this one's clearly a TAT I've also seen true TATs with the indented sidebands, but I don't have a picture at the moment.

Basically its the upper canopy and the nut that makes the difference. I love the blades on those they are so wide. Both of theses models are really popular around here, at lest they used to. I always wondered what they were. The one without the nut looks a lot like an Evergo. If they are Canarm they must be very old Canarm. But TAT have never use the generic bell canopy on their fans? The one with the nut is actually this one but 56''. www.vintageceilingfans.com/tatwindwardcf2.htmlDo you remember when you took these pics?

You may be right. Come to think of it I have seen Canarm/Airmasters with those TAT blades with the design.
I dont think I've seen a TAT with a generic bell canopy.

I was in Gateway today and stupidly forgot my phone to take pictures. Anywho. The Blue Originals are all safe and sound, one however was replaced with a Brown Original from another side room where there used to be two Originals. In the one side room there was the one Brown Original. In a second there were I wanna say Marley or Fasco fans.. They aren't Charlestons or anything Charleston or K55 based but I can't remember what they are but there was three of them. Not builder fans but in the middle there somewhere and a Cameron II (44" in white) Another room that used to have Hunter Silent Breezes in AB got Emerson builder fans in like 2013 or so. I could at the minimum tolerate the new Northwind but their some crappier thing. I forget the name, I know they don't make them anymore. I used to have a HUGE Emerson catalog from 2009 or something but I haven't seen it in years. Another room has Quorum SOS ? Something like that, I remember a thread about them before. Another room had more Originals. Then the room with the Dozen or so Delta II's depressed me much as I recall one getting replaced in like 2014 with a Four Seasons III in white due to a dropped flywheel. About 5 more were replaced with Westinghouse Builder fans. I would assume for that reason as well, this place seems to keep there fans until they are DEAD. They keep the entrances open and there are several large entrances so fans are a must (of course aren't they everywhere ) But I can only imagine what their electric bill is with cooling the outside. I hope the next batch of fans to get put in aren't crap like they've been going with the Westinghouses. My person thought on this is, many of the places on the boardwalk obviously go with Farmingtons and other junk but a lot of others would get fans from a store called Bright Light Design Center thats in the area. They used to be a big Casablanca dealer.. (Still are but no where near what they used to sell volume wise, especially since Casablanca screwed up the Panama with the new line of them). But anyways, they used to sell 4 Speed Panamas for $199 and IntelliTouch and Advantouch for $269 with blades and that promotion got them LOTS of volume out in the area. It was like most new rental houses in Wildwood got Panamas or Quick Connects.. No lowes crap and nothing else from Home Depot, if it wasn't one of those two models it usually was something else from Bright Light that Casablanca carried. Anyways, they now promote Minka Aire Supras as there volume fan and promotion fan along with the new Pull Chain Direct Drive Panama but they aren't selling like the XLP 2000 Panamas. So I think thats lost them a lot of customers and now theres an Electrical Supply house in Wildwood that sells Kichler, Emerson, and I believe Westinghouse so it makes sense. I mean the new Panamas are no where near justifiable for what they are.. Anywho, not trying to make one of those long winded posts without pictures cause I know how annoying that can be to read, but I figured I'd throw some insight out there and have a place if I go there again next month with my fiance that I can snap some pictures from there of the fans.
