Did anyone make windmills from fans as a kid? I had a relative (don't remember who) that used to make them and give them to me. They would take plastic bladesets and put them on a pole. I had one that had a gray five wing banana Toastmaster blade on it and I think another was a gray Lasko five wing, as well as a clear white three wing 16" blade. I noticed there is a house around here that has some metal three wing blades from box fans or HV fans they made windmills with.
I loved windmills as a kid, the Aermotor water pump ones, most of which are gone but a house near me has one in the yard, some of the groves near my house still have the diesel powered wind generators that would keep the oranges from freezing during the winter, though the groves are mostly gone so they aren't used. I can remember hearing the engines during a few cold winters we had like 20 years ago. One day I'd like to get an Aermotor replica windmill for the garden.
I used to have a copper Aermotor style miniature windmill that was a windup music box that played when you turned the blades to wind it. I don't have it anymore though.

I've never constructed any windmills from fans,, but I do have a replica windmill in my yard.. It stands about 10 feet tall.. Spins, but doesn't power anything..

You want a motor with permanent magnet 's thin you can generate some electricy. You may be able to charge up some AAA OR AA'S Battery's . I have made some blades for wind power out of pvc pipe.
