I've noticed a few pictures on here with broken links and I heard Photobucket has stopped outside linking unless you're a subscribed member. I may start using Flickr now. It's annoying when you try to read older threads and all of the pictures are broken. I loved Photobucket because you could delete your pictures, instead of a single upload like others have. Plus I could post on other forums without uploading to the forum itself.

Friday I received the email from Photobucket telling about the major changes they did and now to be able to post our pictures on other sites (3rd party), which is mainly what Photobucket is about, they want use to pay 518$ (400 US) annually. I hope this is a joke. They are dreaming. It's already causing a lot of chaos and a lot of people will be protesting. I sure hope they will rethink about it and realize the problems it's cause and that people will not want to pay more than 500$ annually for this.
In the meantime they are the member galleries we can use here to display our new acquisitions and sightings. I will soon reorganize in alphabetical order the brand names in the two sections. I just added my June sightings there.
Flickr could be a solution.

Yeah Photobucket will try to screw you over just like any hosting company... Flickr will make you pay too if you go over a certain amount, so we have to be careful to as well. Nothing's free anymore, just like when major cell carriers eliminated unlimited data... grrr...

So how do you think they chose what people got on the shortlist for this email? I didn't get one, and from what I've been looking at a majority of other people didn't get one either. I've been fed up with the insane amount of adverts they've been utilizing for a long time, and on my end the entire site has been flaky for months. Who there thinks that anybody's gonna pay $400 for a flaky site to do what another site can do for free? Whoever proposed this should be fired immediately, they're going to lose a massive amount of loyal users.

Now that sucks.... especially after making a great comeback to the forums and sharing pics... time to move on to another hosting site.. facebook might be a good option.. except of the facebook team decide to close ur account for stupid reasons (it happened to my account last year which had the full list of fan collection).. vcf member galleries is quite a pain to handle for forum sharing and there is a limit of 50 pics to process at one time as well as its blocked on my work pc,
Photobucket has been terrible since the launch of their update, first with their unreliable app, then bloating their app and websites with popup ads, then "PHOTOBUCKET CANVAS" which they keep making endless offers, then being unable to upload from phones, and now no 3rd party sharing except after paying... screw photobucket i am done lol

I had noticed all of the ads too and I tried to go on there just yesterday on my computer and couldn't even get any of my photos to load. I don't know what's up with them, I used them since 06 or 07 and up until the last few months never had issues.
They never sent me an email either, maybe I have my account set to not send emails, I don't remember.

I too got the email, and can't see the pictures on the forum. It's sad and frustating at the same time. I've been with them since the beginning of my contribution to this forum, in 2008 or 2009. And now they want me to pay 500$ ? My money will be way better invested in something else, that matters most. If they don't change that, i'll find another place to host my pictures and as i've read here, i'm not the only one who'll do so.

So it appears all Canadian users got the email lol.
Yeah, nobody is paying this. I mean who is? I feel like anybody who has that kind of money to spend on photo hosting probably already has access to a better way of doing so than Photobucket. Sites like this are the budget solution for the little people. I didn't like the amount of ads lately, but I wasn't complaining because the service was still free. I know they have to make their money too. Maybe if they'd done like $15 a year or something, even I might've just gone along with that for the ease of continuing to use what I've been using for a decade. They'd lose a few people, no big whoop. But half a month's rent? Nope. Not happening. Anybody who does pay that is a fool.

There's a possibility that heavy users or longtime members got the email, it reminds me of when Verizon got rid of unlimited data (I was a longtime subscriber to the plan, and was "Grandfathered" In, and then I got a text saying that I was going to lose it if I chose to upgrade my phone, so I started buying phones secondhand, and then they finally told me that if I chose not to update my plan to a stupid "Tiered Data" plan, they'd automatically do it for me without me choosing my new plan. At leas then I could get a new phone direct from Verizon, LOL. Anyways, I figured out how to better manage my data, and use less than a gig out of my parent's shared plan thanks to using Wi-Fi whenever and wherever possible. Their "Unlimited" plans have a cap now, and if you go over it, it's not truly "Unlimited". Same thing goes for Photobucket, it's really not worth the charges.

First of all, if you can rent anything bigger than a storage unit for $400, I want to live where you live.
I got the email but I didnt understand it. I read it and clicked on the link and thought to myself "$400 for hosting? I must not be understanding" and discarded it.
I hope there will be enough outrage that they will reverse their policy. I was thinking of making a YouTube video ranting about it.

HALF a month's rent lol! I pay $895, I'm not hurting by any means but I think everyone can agree $400 can go a long way elsewhere for more important things.
It seems like a lot of hardcore users, people who upload ridiculous amounts of stuff, didn't get notification, so I don't really buy the heavy/longtime user theory.

Not to thread jack or get too personal.. But Cole are any utilities included? For what I've seen of you're place you're getting the Cadillac of apartments for the price of a 1980's Hyundai. For $895 a month locally you'll get a room with access to the kitchen and bathroom between certain hours or a flea bag apartment the size of a normal bedroom!

I pay for electric and my own internet, cable would also be on the tenant but I don't have it. Otherwise everything else is pretty much included, no extra for the underground parking or garage. There are places similar-ish to mine going for like in the upper $600s, but I took this because the location is way too good being just a couple blocks from my parents and the underground parking is like totally worth it, I think some other properties with it offer it as a paid option. It's a super competitive market here right now, we're getting oversaturated in apartments so right now it's a fair time to be a renter. Some of y'all wouldn't believe the literal entire neighborhoods of apartment buildings if you visited here, many have said it's unlike anything they've seen anywhere else.
