Recently there has been an eBay user with zero feedback driving up our auction prices very early. He seems to be targeting those of us selling Hunter Originals. While at first it might be encouraging to see our prices go up so quickly, I became suspicious (especially since when a price goes up early in the auction, it seems to discourage bidding at the end). Sure enough, this user won one of my fans, and of course has not paid. I gave him the two days before opening up an unpaid item case on him, and in viewing auctions of other users he is STILL bidding on many of our fans despite his having a case open against him. It is not unusual to see this user run up a fan to $150 or $200 by the second day of the auction. While we all like to see our items go for a generous amount of money, this is unfair to us, others in the fan community that promote successful eBay sales with integrity, and most importantly our bidders.
I have no problem with zero-feedback users in general bidding on my items, but there are people out there who open up accounts for the sole purpose of sabotaging auctions. BE SURE that if you get a non-paying bidder, you open up a case on him or her after two days, and then if s/he still doesn't pay after four additional days, close the case so they get an unpaid item strike against them.
IN ADDITION, check your blocking filters!!! I had no idea I could do this until I looked into it this week. Here are some instructions to protect yourself from these bidders:
1) Open up your account
2) Click on My eBay
3) Click on the Account tab
4) On the left hand side of the screen, click "Site Preferences"
5) Scroll down to "Buyer requirements" and to the right of where it says "Block buyers who:" click Edit
6) Choose your settings accordingly from the screen that shows up:
Here is how I have mine set. If one of these users is currently bidding on your fan(s), be sure to check the box at the bottom that says "Apply above settings to active and future listings".
Be sure and save your settings!
Hopefully this will cut down on these troll bidders, as once they have enough unpaid item strikes the filter will block them from bidding on our items or even communicating with us. Be sure to keep an eye out.
