Well on Saturday I went to go pick up this old Dayton floor fan off of Craigslist that wasn't too far from my house. Well when I got it, it wasn't in the best of shape. The stand was the worst part on it because the stand's chrome was peeling and it was rusting. I had to wire wheel the rest of the chrome off, I primed it, and then gave it three coats of aluminum paint. Then I polished the chrome motor housing and steel wooled the guards. I also cleaned and waxed the motor and the front part of the motor housing. I finished everything up by buffing the plastic pieces including the blades. Its a pretty cool fan and I think it came out great. Just need to get rubber feet for the stand. Heres a video of it running. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcA_WfTJWkI&list=UU9Pdl-HC8_GbZRGvQnc-4lw&index=1&feature=plcp

Wow. That is a fantastically awesome fan! Really well done with everything you did with it. I actually kinda like the slight contrast of the base with all the chrome already on there.

It is a rebranded Freshn'daire. Dayton had a lot of their products rebranded (e.g. by Lasko, Lakewood, and Marley, just to name a few brands).

It is a rebranded Freshn'daire. That is absolutely wrong. I disassembled this fan down to its core and I did not find one thing that is Fresh Nd Aire related. The blade is made out of plastic, not bakelite. The motor is a small Dayton motor, not a big GE or Westinghouse motor like all Fresh Nd Aires used. The motor cover is far from anything that came from the Freshy factory. There was only one model that Fresh Nd Aire made that looked somewhat like this fan but they are still very different fans. Also, you are right about Dayton rebadging their fans but they didnt rebadge their industrial fans. Something tells me that Dayton wanted to have a line of economy models for home use to rake in some extra cash. So instead of making their own small home use fans they turned to other companies like Lakewood, Kisco,Lasko, and McGraw Edison to make them. Thanks Cole and Rick. Its a great fan. Now I need to find the counter top model and the pedestal model. ;D
